Flu season has officially started!  As a result, many people are asking themselves if they need to get a flu shot. While conventional medicine encourages everyone to get a flu shot, there are many risks and side effects that most people are unaware of.

Personally, I have been committed to natural health for nearly three years now. Due to this commitment I have not received or taken any flu shots, vaccinations, prescription medications, or over-the-counter drugs. During this period of natural living I have avoided the flu and have not suffered from any chronic illnesses that used to regularly affect me. Learn more about my health history here.

Only you can decide whether or not to get a flu shot, but personally, I will never get one ever again.

5 Reasons Why I Don’t Get the Flu Shot:

Flu shots are not effective

Flu shots do not provide protection from most strains of the influenza virus. Each year, scientists predict approximately which 3 strains of the influenza virus, out of approximately 300, will be the most common. The three chosen strains are subsequently used in the flu shot. Unfortunately, a flu shot won’t give you additional immunity if you’re exposed to one of the strains not chosen; which means flu shots are often not effective.

Shockingly, the statistics are often “massaged” to make flu shots appear more effective than they actually are. Check out this article from Natural News which explains how this works.

The Flu Shot contains a lot of creepy ingredients

Flu shots contain lots of toxic ingredients. For example, the Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine is one of the common flu vaccines being given this year. This vaccine contains thimerosal, formaldehyde, and several other toxic ingredients.

  • Thimerosal contains 49.6% mercury by weight and has linked to various health conditions. These conditions include autism, seizures, mental retardation, hyperactivity, dyslexia, and more.
  • Formaldehyde is typically used to embalm dead bodies. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ranks it as one of the most toxic substances to human health. Formaldehyde is also classified as a known human carcinogen and may cause neurological damage, circulatory shock, respiratory insufficiency, and acute renal failure.

These are only two of the many different toxic ingredients used in flu shots. For more information, check out the CDC for a full list of ingredients and The Organic Prepper for their many side effects.

There is a risk of severe side effects

Most people are aware of the mild side effects from a flu shot: fever, headache, fatigue, etc. However many people don’t know that side effects can be much more severe. Flu vaccine injuries and deaths are by far the most compensated in vaccine court according to the June 2014 report from the Department of Justice. Injuries as a result of the flu shot that received compensation included: Guillain-Barré Syndrome, Rheumatoid arthritis, Shingles, Bell’s Palsy, Narcolepsy, and more.

Katherine McQuestion may have died as a result of the flu shot.

Most noteworthy of all: the flu shot could possibly result in death. Health Impact News reported the heart-breaking news that 26-year-old Katherine McQuestion died from flu complications. What is especially relevant: most mainstream media news sources aren’t mentioning that she died after she received the flu shot. Prior to the shot she was in excellent health and had recently gotten married. I simply don’t understand how the flu shot is worth the risk of such severe health consequences.

The Flu Shot provides a false sense of security

Vaccines tend to provide a false sense of security. As a result, people look for an easy solution in the form of a shot instead of naturally strengthening their immune system. However, artificial immunity from a vaccine will never provide the protection from illness one gets from natural immunity. Dr. Phil Maffetone says it best,

“Having a naturally healthy immune system offers more than just reducing your risk of the flu. It helps prevent and postpone many illnesses, from cancer and heart disease to most chronic conditions. It adds quality of life to the end of your life. Artificial immunity can’t do that.”

There are lots of ways to avoid the flu naturally

Furthermore the flu can be prevented by eating right, living a healthy lifestyle, avoiding exposure to the virus, and strengthening your immune system. Start incorporating these habits into your routine today:

  • Eat whole foods (fresh fruits and vegetables are your friends)
  • Get regular exercise (aim for 30 minutes of movement a day)
